Newington House has to be one of my favourite venues this year. It is a beautiful family home set in the heart of Oxfordshire with stunning gardens full of so many different picturesque places to take stunning bridal portraits. The family still live in the house, but move out allowing bridal parties to move in for the weekend and enjoy all it has to offer. The reception takes place on the lawns in front of the house, and then the guests walk through the house and down the steps into a beautiful Papaka marquee in the garden.
Friday 16th August poured and poured with rain!! and I was getting a little worried that Katie and Stuart were not going to be able to make the most of this stunning venue but……….we woke up on Saturday 17th August to the sun shining and beautiful blue skies. Newington House shone in all its glory and Stuart and Katie were able to enjoy their drinks on the lawn with the house in the background, make full use of all the wonderful places to take bridal portraits in, and welcome evening guest in the warm evening sun. The guest were serenaded by Katie’s cousins who sang beautifully while they sipped their champagne and while we took a multitude of group photos on the steps of the house, but everyone kept smiling and we got through them effortlessly.
The Wild Fork caters cooked up a storm of BBQ beef steak with an array of delicious salads and the guests dinned away while the sun made its way down behind the Oxford landscape, but not before the bridal party headed out side to have fun with some Smoke Cannons! Katie and Stuart pulled the videographer and myself aside and said “a friend has brought some smoke cannons along, do you think it worth going outside to do them?” The Videographer and I looked at each other with delight in our eyes and said ” Oh Yes!” so we gathered up at the bridesmaids and groomsmen and off we went to have fun!
The dancing was kicked off by Katie’s cousin playing their first dance while the sky turned orange, and then the band took over and the guests danced the night away. It really was a wonderful day and I could not have asked for a more aesthetic wedding to capture.
