Cherwell Boathouse Oxford
Lorna and Michael had their wedding ceremony in St Aldates Church and then on to The Cherwell Boathouse for the reception. The Cherwell Boathouse is like a little hidden gem on the edge of the river. It is a very unassuming venue that is filled with character and makes a great wedding venue. The Cherwell Boathouse give you a complimentary punt down the rive to the Boathouse. So Lorna and Michael got punted down the river under a beautiful bridge to be welcomed by their guest. They managed to negotiate stepping off the punt onto dry land where they were welcomed by a flurry of confetti. So much laughter and smiles welcomed Lorna and Michael as they walked through all their friends and family congratulating them on their marriage. I love the confetti part of every wedding and no wedding feels complete with out it. It is a wonderful expression of celebration and joy for the couple.
The Boathouse did an amazing job of cooking a fantastic Bbq for over 100 people and an array of delicious salads. The guests enjoyed their meal up in a raised marquee looking down over the river and watching the many punts full of groups of friends enjoying a warm Autumn nights punt on the river. As the meal whined down guests wandered down to the river back and sat enjoying the evening sun and sharing life.
The dancing was kicked off by a 1st Ceilidh dance and as ceilidhs have a tendency to do every guest was up dancing and involved. I loved the band Licence to Ceilidh. They were a group of girls in funky tartan skirts and were the most amazing musicians keeping everyone entertained. Everyone loved them, and the packed dance floor was proof.
