If you are planning the best wedding and you want every supplier you absolutely love then have your wedding on a Friday. Charlie and Imogen had the most fantastic wedding on a Friday and then used the marquee for a second time on Saturday to host a wonderful lunch with their nearest and dearest. Being a Friday they were about to book the best band, the most gorgeous florist, an amazing caterer, and wonderfully I was able to photograph it too before I headed off to Yorkshire for a wedding the following day. So having a Friday wedding can work out brilliantly for you.
Imogen’s family home looks out over fields deep in the Oxfordshire countryside. Every year the field is filled with wild daisies and Imogen had always dreamt of having her wedding amongst the daisies. So her father diligently mowed a path through the daisies and the marquee found a spot deep into the field where they could put the marquee up and Imogen’s dream took shape. The marquee sat nestled amongst the daisies and surrounded by milk churns of flowers, trees, floral printed table cloths and napkins creating an idilic setting for a wedding .
Guests meandered through the daisies after the ceremony to be greeted to the smell of a BBQ and a cold glass of Champagne. It was the most stunning day and so the cooling glass of bubbles was very welcome. We of course made full use of the surrounding fields of daisies for lots of gorgeous shots of Charlie and Imo. They were welcomed to the reception by a huge cheer as glasses of fizz was placed in their hands.
As the sun made its way down over the hills laughter, chatter and the relaxing tunes from the band playing softly drifted across the fields. When the sun shines on your wedding day you are given the wonderful opportunity to have your speeches outside. This results in photos of guest laughing and speeches with no ghastly speakers behind them or dim indoor light. I can move around easily enabling me to get the best shots of everyone reacting to the jokes, and of course capture the couple framed beautifully with fields and sky behind them.
The evening rolled on with a delicious meal of BBQ salmon and venison, and the dancing was kicked off with a fantastic first dance that got everyone on to the dance floor. As the sky turned from golden orange to deep blue guests enjoyed cocktails by the warmth of the fire pits and the twinkling stars.
This was a wedding that could not have been better. It produced all the most wonderful elements that gave me the opportunity to capture the most fantastic photos, and Imogen and Charlie smiled from the beginning to the end. A truly wonderful day.
